nine

well, it is a little hard for me to believe but our first born turned the big nine years old yesterday......

time truly does fly.....

and in that time....

it has been amazing to watch owen become the boy he is.....

we are quite proud of him.....

whether it was nature or nuture...or luck... i don't know.....

but he's a pretty great kid...

he is kind and sweet....

he is thoughtful....

he is a good friend and an exceptional big brother.....

he is smart and at times, wise beyond his years....

he is goofy.....

he loves the outdoors and fishing, catching frogs, and digging in the dirt....

he equally loves sports.... baseball, basketball, soccer, football....

he has quickly accumulated a large sports cards collection....

it is pretty cute to listen to him and his friends talk stats and negotiate trades....

he is just an awesome young man....

it has been a joy to watch him grow....

all in all, I think he had a pretty good birthday....

he requested chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast with his sprinkle cup.... (don't look too closely--mom fail on the sprinkles this year!)

max and i brought him culver's to school for lunch and ate lunch with him and his friends...

max thought he was pretty cool to hang out with the big boys...

after school, we continued the celebration with cake and presents.....

and then it was off to his first official baseball game of the season...

and he was thrilled to play on his birthday....

so proud of this boy....

he tried out this winter for the traveling baseball team...

something new and different for him....

and he made the top team!

so this year he is one of the U10AA Stillwater Ponies and he is loving it!

to make his day even better.... they won!

it is so cool to watch him find his talents and passions....

to see him happy and love the game....

his whole team sang happy birthday to him and there were more cupcakes involved....

i'd say he had a pretty good day.... :)

happy birthday little man....

love you lots....

13 days new

last week, i had the honor in capturing the newest addition to this fun and lovely family....

she and the hubby survived PA school together and we have become family friends....

it has been pretty cool to watch through the years as we've added to our families....

and now, they have added a touch of pink to theirs!

the big brothers are absolutely thrilled to have a little sister....

it was so sweet to watch them dote on her...

little miss was pretty into the action as she really wasn't interested in sleeping at all.... (hopefully she slept extra well for mama that night!)

i had so much fun just sitting back and capturing all those little moments...

lots of silly and sweet to go around....

thanks for the honor, my friends!

she is precious....

you have a beautiful family....

pacific northwest

for christmas, the hubby was very thoughtful and bought me a plane ticket to seattle to go visit my dear littlest sister....

it had been a couple of years--the last time i was out there i brought gus along...he was still just a baby....

so this time, i had a little more freedom and it was great!

love my boys dearly but a little break from the day to day was a breath of fresh air....

it was so nice to see my sister as well for i only get to see her about twice a year....

so.....to try to sum up the trip in a nutshell so this doesn't get long winded....

it was a whirlwind but wonderful....

4 days of good company, good food (my sister can cook), road trips, taking in the beauty that is the pacific northwest....

we spent part of the time up on the olympic peninsula near the puget sound where my sister lives...

just hanging out--walks on the local beaches, eating sushi at the local taproom on the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean, meeting some of her friends, and just sitting on the porch basking in the sun....taking it all in....

she got us this cute little cabin...with a wood stove and a view of the olympic mountains....

on a quaint piece of land complete with goats and chickens that gave early morning wake up calls....

we also took a little road trip further north and spent one night up on the coast on the ocean.... (think twilight country... ha!)

drove past lake crescent with crystal clear, teal waters....

we did a little hiking, strolled many beaches (rialto beach was a bit windy!), and just soaked up the sun, sea, and air....

amazing scenery out there....

i could have spent another day or two on the coast....

some day i hope to take the boys back there...they would love the rocks, oodles of driftwood, and huge dead trees to climb upon.....

all in all, a wonderful time....

thank you dear sister for being such a wonderful host.... it was a great little getaway and so nice to spend time with you!

and thank you, hubby of mine, for the wonderful gift!

xo

and now for an overload of photos....

one last morning stroll....

2016-04-08 10.42.39.jpg

bike ridin'

winter gets me in a pretty blah mood when it comes to picture taking....

but, a few weeks ago, the weather was semi decent so we spent a little time outside as we were all going a bit stir crazy indoors...

i'm finally getting around to posting them!

spring has sprung so I'm hoping I'll get to posting a bit more regularly around here....

also--take note in the last few pics.... Max became a pro on his little balance bike but then one day, up and decided he wanted to learn to ride a big boy bike....

he has always been a bit timid so I was somewhat shocked when he just went for it....

he never ceases to amaze me!

he picked up bike riding in about 2 days and was so proud of himself....

our 4 year old can officially ride a bike....

he's still working on braking and stopping....so riding into the grass to land suffices for now....

so proud of that boy of mine... :)
