a day in the life

“Instructions for living a life.

For this month's installment of "living a life", my photography friends and I decided to share with you a day in our life.  Being the procrastinator that I am, I took out my camera yesterday and attempted to give you an idea of our day.  This was actually more challenging than I thought it would be.  I took far too many pictures but still feel like I didn't really tell a complete story.  Hopefully, this will give you somewhat an idea of what went on during our day.  The hubby worked all weekend but had yesterday off. We were gone all weekend at grandma's house so the boys were excited to see their daddy.  It was a pretty typical Monday...As usual, Gus woke up first so we started off the day checking the veggie garden for slugs that have taken a liking to my beans.  Grrr.  Lots of down time for the boys....checking to see if the blackberries are ready to be picked, playing legos, reading books, pretending to be superheroes while jumping off the bed, concocting a habitat in the old fish bowl for an old crayfish leg Owen found and leaving it in the sink for me.... That was a nice surprise.  Ha!  I had some me time (thanks dear) and went for a walk/jog on the new state trail by our house.  After my walk, I actually did a little shopping.  Shopping for me is a rarity these days. ;)  Other than that, it was a pretty normal day.   Besides Gus somehow getting a child lock cap off some teething tablets and proceeding to eat half the bottle.... Resulting in a phone call to poison control...he's ok. Thank goodness. (I did not take pictures of that....) He is going to send me to an early grave. (also note, Gus getting into the freezer early in the morning and into the ice cream...little stinker!)  At the end of the day, there's always lots of rough housing post shower/bath time.  Gotta love those silly boys.... I was lucky enough to end my day with a photo session.  It was a beautiful eve for picture taking.... All in all a pretty laid back summer day.  Alas, here are snippets of a day in our life...

on the day you turned two

Our baby turned the big two years old on June 5th. Naturally, I am a bit behind.  School has only been out since Friday and it has been a whirlwind of a summer already! Speaking of whirlwinds.... how is my baby already a toddler?! Two years have gone by in a blink of an eye.... And, of course, I took far too many pictures of his big day.   It was a beautiful day to celebrate him. We gave him a little red tricycle as his big birthday gift. He was so happy to sit on it and just ring the bell.  His feet don't quite reach the pedals but that wasn't stopping him.  He was one proud little boy! Sorry in advance for the picture overload....

And dear sweet Gus....

You will always be my baby boy.  You are full of mischief and feistiness. You are much too smart for your own good...

You have mastered the mischievous grin with those dimples of yours....

Yet, at the same time, you can be so sweet, quite sensitive, and, by far, my biggest snuggler....

Your blanket and pacifier are your faithful sidekicks when you snuggle...

You love your brothers mightily and have no trouble getting in on all of the action....

I am so happy to be your mama and watch you grow....

Happy Birthday to you my baby boy....

You are so loved....

last day of school

hard to believe another school year has gone by....

owen was actually pretty sad to see it end...

he is a bit of a social butterfly so he was sad to say goodbye to all of his friends for the summer...

he humored me and let me take a few shots... :)

(and he left a little evidence on his face of a donut he had in honor of national donut day...)

now on to summer!

birthday bash

This past weekend we celebrated Owen turning the big 8 and Gus's upcoming 2nd birthday with our families.  Just a little celebration with cake and ice cream--note the sprinkles on Gus's cake--Max helped Grandma with those.  I thought it added a bit of character. :) Gus wasn't so sure about the happy birthday song but, of course, he loved the cake and candy.  Anyways, I just wanted to share a few snapshots to document the celebration.  I was a bit of a slacker when it came to the photo taking.  Better than nothing I suppose!  Thank you to our dear family for joining us to celebrate.  A celebration wouldn't be one without you.  We love you all!

living a life

time for another edition of "living a life" with some lovely photog ladies....

these photos were just an evening recently before bath time...

where mr. gus decided to crawl up in our bed and make himself comfortable....

of course, i had to grab my camera....

to document this sweet moment in life....

where he was content to just sit for a few minutes....

before he was up and moving again.....

he never sits still for long....

so i have to capture these quiet, tender moments when i can.....
