last week i got to spend some time with this beautiful family...
it was another beautiful summer's eve down by the river.....
little mr. h is one curious, busy boy....but oh, so sweet....
and miss c.....full of personality and had THE best facial expressions....
she knows how to make everyone smile....
i had so much fun with you, my friends....

a week or so ago i got to enjoy a lovely evening, in my happy place, with one lovely family....
i first photographed them when their sweet baby boy was brand new...
kids just grow up way too fast....!

last week, I had the honor in photographing this sweet family once again....
one of the coolest parts of this job is seeing children and families grow year after year.....
it is hard to believe that the last time i photographed this family, their sweet baby girl was brand new to this world.....
and now she is the most adorable toddler....blue eyed and blonde pigtails...with the best smile....
once a family of three....
now three has become a family of four....
with one precious baby boy.....
who could not have been any sweeter.....
it was a joy and honor to document a little bit of you.....

Owen's birthday weekend continued with a party with a few friends...
He planned the whole thing out down to the cake details....
His party consisted of rock climbing (so we crammed the car as full as we could get), coming back to our house for some flag football and grilling hot dogs. His cake was his concoction....vanilla cake, chocolate mousse filling, chocolate frosting, and an oreo crumble on top. We surprised him with relighting candles which made every one laugh hysterically. It was pretty cute.
They had a blast....
Somehow they also managed to squeeze in a cake fight....

When I was editing these photos, I couldn't help feel a little emotional....
He has known all of these boys since kindergarten...
Good friends and growing up....
Not a good combo for this mama....
Definitely makes my heart happy....
All in all, I believe it was a successful birthday weekend!
we returned to captiva for a little spring break get away.....
it is hard not to go back once you've been there....
our happy place when the weather is still cold and dreary here...
a place to soak up the sun and warmth...
hunt for sea shells...
feel the sea breeze and salt air....
dig in the sand and splash in the waves....
fish and watch the manatees and dolphins....
walking the beach while we stare at the gorgeous sunsets....
a little slice of heaven...
so grateful for this place and thankful for the time spent here with my lovely little family...
we had such a wonderful time and i'm already looking forward to the day we can return...

hello blog world....
it has been a while...
It has been a while since I've even picked up my camera. I'm in that typical winter slump. In a way, the slump isn't such a bad thing. Sometimes a welcome break. I have had more time to read, volunteer, meet up with friends, take boys to swimming lessons, watch Owen play basketball etc.... We've been battling two weeks of non stop sickness...croup, ear infections, influenza like illness....ready for a break from that. 41 days until spring break.....not that I'm counting.... ;)
Amidst the sickness, we were able to squeeze in a little visit to the ice castles here in town....
I managed to snap a few before my fingers froze off.
They are quite beautiful.
