first snow

we had our first snow of the season...

the older boys were so excited...

the baby....he loved it for about two minutes...

max loved eating it....

owen taught him to "not eat the yellow snow!"....

it has been a lovely, lazy snowy day....

the boys went out a second time and brought their big dinosaurs....

i love their enthusiasm....

and i do love the first snow....

it is beautiful...

come january though....i may feel differently....

a little glimpse of our snowy morning...

five on five: b & w

time for another 5 on 5...

this may be cheating but i haven't had a lot of time to prepare for this month...

it seems to always creep up on me...

anyways, i was asked by andrea to do a 5 day black and white challenge (on facebook)...

so i thought i would post them here... (although i did add an extra from my original 5 so my parents could see the latest...)

not everyone has facebook (or maybe some may have missed seeing them on facebook).... so i thought i'd better get them on here as well....

5 on 5 seemed to be a perfect time to do this...

so here are my 5 days (plus 1) of black and white...

continue on to andrea's 5 on 5 after....!

sedona

finally, part two of our trip to sedona...

if you missed it...i posted pics of our day trip to antelope canyon the other day...

the rest of these photos are a hodge podge of the remainder of our trip...

i looked through photos from our trip here last year and i took like 12 photos...

must have been because i was just taking it all in, probably exhausted, and i had a baby attached to me.. :)

this year was delightful...

we hiked, we mountain biked (don't ask me how that went--let's just say biking downhill is a hundred times more fun....), we shopped, we ate yummy food, we relaxed (i finished an entire book!) , we slept.....!

we stayed at a quaint little inn on the creek...

the views from our window and balcony were delightful...

the last night we were spoiled and got the suite....

we went to Crescent Moon Ranch at the Red Rock Crossing and saw lovely views of Cathedral Rock... (something we attempted to do last year but got there too late...)

we biked the trail to Bell Rock.... (i made it half way... ha!)

we went to Chapel of the Holy Cross as this was one of my favorites last year.... beautiful views and a place full of peace...

we also made it to the Grand Canyon on our day trip...it was a dreary day but the fog was pretty cool to see creeping into the canyon...

overall, a wonderful trip....it was my first overnight time away from the baby...

it was also the first time we had taken a trip by ourselves in 2 years...

so nice to get away for a little bit but also nice to return to our boys and routine...

also, THANK YOU to my parents and sister for making this possible.....it is greatly appreciated....

can we sign you up for next year?? he he... :)

without further ado....

sedona through my lens....

the three dragons

Happy Halloween, a day late!

this year we had three little dragons...

i found max's costume first and came upon a little dragon for gus not too long after...

owen wanted to jump on the dragon bandwagon...

he was toothless the dragon (from how to train your dragon) because he wanted to be "a little scarier"... how appropriate as he is missing a few teeth... :)

so, i snapped a few pics before it got dark....

owen humored me for a few pics and then took off to go back inside... (so if you're looking at this someday, my son, you will now know why i had the least pictures of you... it is not a measure of how much i love you.. )  ;)

it was a chilly halloween but the boys had fun...

and now i have to muster up all of my self control... (that's not saying much...)

so i don't "help" them with too much of their candy...

the majority of their candy is chocolate...

for those that know me well....this is not good... :)

now on to the holidays...!

antelope canyon

for those that don't know, the hubby and i took a little trip this past weekend...

last year, we brought the baby but this year it was sans kids....

love our kids dearly but it was a nice break...

nice to get a little extra sleep...eat a nice, hot meal uninterrupted...have some adult conversation...

all in the lovely town of Sedona...

such a different experience this year without the baby...

still the amazing views...

but, we actually got to enjoy more of what sedona has to offer...hiking, mountain biking etc...

just taking in the views--not having to worry about a hungry, tired baby...

anyways, i wanted to post just one post but i realized that i have far too many photos...

on our second day there, we took a little road trip about 3 hours north of sedona to a little city called Page...

i wanted to go here because i was very intrigued by pictures that i had seen of these slot canyons... stunning images of nothing quite like i've ever seen before...

a sandstone canyon carved by water....

red in color, where the light peeks through...

such an amazing thing to see!

(unfortunately, it was cloudy so we didn't get to see those amazing sun rays but that light was still there...)

this canyon was called Antelope Canyon...

located on Navajo land...so we had to get an official tour guide to take us there...

there was a 4 mile stretch of off road...what a crazy ride....

i thought the car was going to fall off the axle... we honestly wondered how many cars they go through or just car repairs in one year alone...

once we arrived... we got our tour and were then given time to just snap away...

and i did just that....

what a sight to behold..

it was worth the drive....

stay tuned for the rest of our trip...
